St. Kitts

St. Kitts

We vacationed on the islands of St. Kitts and Nevis in the summer of 2007. The 2 islands are a short ferry ride apart so we wanted to try both islands in one trip. Much to my surprise, I enjoyed St. Kitts more than Nevis. The beaches were nicer in St. Kitts and I liked staying at the Marriott. I am not much for staying at the Hotel beach and the 2 different beaches we found away from the hotel were some of the nicest we’ve been on. You can see from the pictures below, my kids had a nice time using their boards and there was no one on the other beach we visited. The ride out to Brimstone Fort was fantastic. We saw the sunset there and the views were unbelievable. In Nevis we had a villa with a great view over to St. Kitts and the restaurants were very nice.

When I arrived I thought the only casino that was open was the Marriott casino, but the original casino, St. Kitts Royal Casino was open as well. This casino is directly across from the Marriott and I walked over there 2 different nights. The second night it was closed because there wasn’t anyone gambling, so they decided to close for the night. It is a very small casino and they are now on their 3rd edition of chips. I personally like the first edition scroll mold chips. The Bud Jones CIC chips are the ones they were using when I was there. Contrasting that casino is the Royal Resort Casino in the middle of the Marriott. This has to be one of the largest casinos in the Caribbean, especially considering St. Kitts is not that big of an island. There are plenty of table games and slot machines in this casino. They had 3 roulette tables and I was able to harvest a complete set from the one table. Unfortunately, the table with the Pelican chips was designated High Roller and the table with the Palms Trees was only open the first night for regular play. The last two nights it was roped off for a high roller.
